Ohioans see and hear many advertisements throughout the holiday season. Some ads may not tell the whole story. Some may even violate Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act. For example, “bait and switch” tactics are illegal. That is when advertising is not a “good faith” offer but, rather, a ploy to get you to buy a more expensive item. Also, ads must list important exclusions and limitations of an offer, “free” items must really mean free, “new” must really mean new, and price comparisons must be truthful.  For more information, click here.
