Gift Cards

December 18, 2017

Many consumers buy gift cards during the holiday season. In general, if you have a single-store gift card, it cannot expire or be assessed fees within two years of the card issue date, according to Ohio law. Under federal law, gift cards issued in electronic format for a specific amount cannot expire for a minimum of five years. If a gift card has no expiration date, it is generally valid until redeemed or replaced with a new card. However, some exceptions apply. Click here for more information
