A look back at National Consumer Protection Week
March 11, 2019
Attorney General Yost's Consumer Protection Section commemorated National Consumer Protection Week last week (March 3-9) with a busy five days of events, legal actions, and public awareness efforts. Legal efforts included lawsuits over title problems at used car dealerships and failures to deliver services by home repair contractors, resulting in news stories to better inform the public of how our office protects consumers from unscrupulous suppliers.
Members from our office made various radio and TV appearances throughout Ohio, from a Cincinnati radio call-in program on WVXU-FM (Cincinnati) to TV phone banks at WSYX-TV (Columbus), WKYC-TV (Cleveland) and WEWS-TV (Cleveland).
AG Yost starred in several NCPW-related social media video clips about important consumer protection issues such as unwanted telephone calls and computer repair scams.
Aside from helping Communications keep Facebook and Twitter filled with posts about the Consumer Protection Section’s activities, the Section hosted a variety of agencies at its Resource Fair on Wednesday, March 6 at the Ohio Department of Transportation complex in Columbus.
The Section also coordinated a meet-and-greet with AG Yost on Thursday, March 7 for the three winning high school students of its statewide Take Action Video Contest. More than 100 students participated in this year’s contest.
