Don’t Throw Away Your New Stimulus Payment

January 15, 2021

As you have likely seen in the news, the U.S. Treasury has begun to issue another round of stimulus payments to consumers. If you do not receive a direct deposit in January and believe you are eligible for this stimulus payment, be sure to watch your mailbox closely for a paper check or an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) debit card, according to the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC).

The NCLC encourages you to “Please let people know that the EIP card is not a scam. The card will be sent in a white envelope that prominently displays the U.S. Department of the Treasury seal. A picture of the EIP card and tips about how to use it without fees are in NCLC's fact sheet.”

For more information directly from the IRS regarding this stimulus payment, please review its press release and Frequently Asked Questions.

This new round of stimulus payments is generally giving qualified individuals a $600 direct payment ($1,200 for couples filing joint tax returns) and $600 for qualifying dependents.
