National Cybersecurity Awareness Month – Tip # 4: Social media

Be careful whenever you decide to post on social media that you are not helping con artists and identity thieves learn more about you. Some sensitive information to keep to yourself: your full name, real names of family members or friends, Social Security number, birthdate, address and phone numbers. Before sharing, remember that information may live forever on the internet. Even if you attempt to delete a post or limit who has access to the post, someone may save it, take a screenshot, or even repost your information that many strangers may see.
