Utility Scam Awareness Week

This week (November 16-20, 2020) is Utility Scam Awareness Week, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office offers tips to help Ohioans avoid scams involving their electric, natural gas, telecommunications and water services. For example, energy scams occur when scammers pose as utility company representatives and threaten to discontinue service to the customer unless the consumer provides personal information or immediate payment for utility service. If you have become a victim of a scam or may have difficulty paying utility bills this fall or winter, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office can educate you about some resources and programs that may be able to assist you in the payment of your utility bills.
